I will be on the first of several planes that will get me to New Zealand by Saturday morning. I'm feeling really excited now and trying not to panic about what I may have forgotten to do or to pack.

- My job's Head of Bargaining and Equal Pay for UNISON Scotland and to trade i'm a trained community development worker and relationship counsellor. As a member of UNISON Scotland’s senior management team I carry strategic responsibility for Bargaining and Equal Pay across many sectors – including the Scottish Community and Voluntary Sector, Local Government, Health, and Higher Education. UNISON Scotland has developed some real strengths in organising within the Scottish community and voluntary sector, including recently facilitating a pact between Scottish sector employers, umbrella groups and unions to promote better, fairer pay and conditions for sector workers.
